BBA President awarded prestigious MBE in King’s Honours list!
🎉 We are thrilled to announce that our president, Prof. Dr Naseem Naqvi FRCP FBBA, has been awarded an MBE, one of the UK’s most prestigious National Honours (King’s Honour), for services to #Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies.
🎖The UK National Honours (formerly Queen’s Honours) are bestowed on individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields, elevating the UK’s international standing, and putting Britain on the map.
The Honours celebrate the exceptional people who go above and beyond to change the world around them for the better and recognise individuals who have selflessly volunteered their time and efforts by doing vital and extraordinary work for the United Kingdom, and beyond. Professor Naqvi has also become the world’s first person to be awarded a UK National Honour in the field of Blockchain Technologies.
Professor Naqvi founded The British Blockchain Association (#BBA) in 2017. He was the lead author of the UK’s National Blockchain Roadmap (UK #NBR, 2021), and the Founder and Editor in Chief of The #JBBA (2017) — The Journal of The British Blockchain Association — the world’s first peer-reviewed #scientific journal on the blockchain, comprising of an Editorial & Review Board that spans 71 countries.
Professor Naqvi is also the founder and chair of the world’s first Centre for Evidence-Based Blockchain (#CEBB, est. 2019), and the founder and chair of #BAF — The Blockchain Associations Forum — bringing blockchain associations from 53 countries on one platform.
Under his leadership, the BBA also established Blockchain International Scientific Conferences (#ISCs since 2018), BBA Fellowships (#FBBA), BBA metaverse headquarters (the world’s first non-profit blockchain industry association to establish a #metaverse headquarters), and a host of other world-class blockchain and #web3 initiatives.
In 2018, Prof Naqvi became the first person in the world to coin the term “Evidence-Based Blockchain” (#EBB). He is an Honorary Professor of Blockchain at Epoka University. He was also named a “Think Tank” and a “Blockchain Influencer” by the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group in 2018.
